Update Spaces for Learning | March 28 to April 10

As part of our ongoing Spaces for Learning project, we will continue with major facility improvements this summer, including the full renovation of the Middle School classrooms, upgrades to the air conditioning, ceiling and lighting in the Pre-K classrooms, and the replacement of the heating system together with AC upgrades in the Science Wing.

During Spring Break, our contractor will carry out preparatory work to advance the project, focusing on the following:

Baseboard/Radiator Removal

Baseboards and radiators will be removed in the Middle School classrooms and the Science Wing, as well as in the hallway leading to the cafeteria. Where necessary, protective plywood covers will be installed to ensure that all areas are safe and ready for students and staff when classes resume.

Removal of the Steam Boilers

Since last summer, the new heating system has been providing heat to the Lower and Upper School, while the older steam system has continued to serve the Middle School and Science Wing. During the break, the old steam boilers will be dismantled and removed. If heating is needed in these areas after the break, the classroom ceiling units can temporarily operate in heating mode until the new system is fully connected this summer.

Asbestos Abatement Notice

As part of the removal of the old steam boilers in the basement, licensed professionals will abate the boilers’ gaskets under strict safety procedures. In accordance with New York State regulations, standard asbestos abatement notices will be posted at exterior entrances beginning March 18.

Please be assured that there is no health risk to students, staff, or visitors. The affected area will be fully sealed and accessible only to the abatement team, and all work will be completed before students return from Spring Break.
