Activities in the Library

This month, our library was bursting with energy and exploration! Students had the chance to discover new stories, sharpen their research skills, and celebrate a diverse array of themes through our featured displays and library lessons.

Book Displays

Our Black History Month display encouraged students to explore inspiring stories of courage and creativity, while the Winter Olympics display highlighted books about the history of the Games and winter sports. We also featured books celebrating Fasching/Karneval, Valentine’s Day, Lunar New Year, and Ramadan, giving students a glimpse into global traditions.

Our 6th graders proudly presented their own original fairy tales, which were made available in the library for all students to read and enjoy.

Focus on Library Skills
  • Library Call Numbers
Our 4th graders dove into the world of library organization this month. They learned how call numbers work and were introduced to the Dewey Decimal System, discovering how fiction and nonfiction materials are arranged and how to locate books efficiently on the shelves.

  • Methoden Tag Library Challenge
During Methoden Tag, 5th students participated in a Library Amazing Race! Working in teams, they used the GISNY online catalog and Gale In Context: Middle School to complete challenges that built their digital research and navigation skills—all while having fun and learning collaboratively.
