Four puzzle pieces and various activities around school development at GISNY

School Development at GISNY

While our students worked at home yesterday, GISNY faculty members engaged in a full-day professional development session centered on Artificial Intelligence in Education and Beyond.

The program included hands-on training with Microsoft CoPilot led by Jeremiah Okal-Frink, an inspiring talk by Ms. Kristin Mangilit-Pradlik from Danone North America on how AI can serve as a creative and supportive partner at work and a reflective and insightful speech by James Mustich, author (1.000 Books to Read Before You Die) and university advisor, about the role of education and learning in times of AI.

Last week, the Extended Steering Committee held its first meeting of the school year. This group, comprising representatives from faculty & staff, the Parents’ Association, the Student Council, and the Board of Trustees, coordinates the work of GISNY’s quality circles. These are faculty-driven teams focusing on specific areas of development. All faculty members are part of at least one quality circle, contributing directly to school improvement and innovation. This year’s circles focus on Community Building, English, Language-Sensitive Learning/Differentiation, Mental Health, STEM/Technology, and Sustainable School. The committee also oversees the annual spring survey, which gathers valuable feedback from our school community.

Currently, all community members are invited to meet with Mr. Ovelgönne and/or Dr. Maiberger during the 10-Weeks-Talks for a short conversation on any topic (Mr. Ovelgönne / Dr. Maiberger).

In addition, Dr. Jarzina, Dr. Maiberger, and Mr. Ovelgönne conduct informal classroom visits to observe teaching and learning in action—continuing GISNY’s strong commitment to continuous school development and quality assurance.
