Absences
Unplanned Absences (illness or other reason)
Day 1 - 2 of absence:
- Report absence and probable reason to the office by 8:30 am by calling (914) 948-6513 x 200.
- In addition, every absence must be excused in writing to the class teacher.
Day 3 and longer:
- Before the child's return, please submit a doctor's note by email to our nurse, Ms. Simons (nurse@gisny.org), or via Magnus.
- If your child has been diagnosed with an infectious disease, please inform our nurse, Ms. Simons, immediately. You can reach her by phone at (914) 948-6952 or by email at nurse@gisny.org.
Attention Students in Grades 10 - 12: A doctor's note MUST be provided if an exam is scheduled on the day of the absence, even during the first three days. Otherwise, the exam will be graded with 0 points.
Planned Absences
- Please inform your child's homeroom teacher about planned absences (e.g., doctor’s visits or driving tests).
- If your child will be absent for three (3) or more days or directly before or after school vacation, permission must be obtained from the Head of School or Head of Lower School by filling out the following form at least one week in advance.
- Please be aware that without an official excuse, we may mark your child's absence as unexcused in both the class register and on their report card.
