I was born and raised in Northern Hessen. After studying German and English language and literature, and Science of Education in Marburg, where I also received my doctorate, I began teaching in Kassel. My career as a teacher then lead me, my wife and sons to East Friesland, to Quito/Ecuador, to Valparaíso/Chile, and to GIS where I had already worked as the assistant principal in the beginning years of this century. After several years at a middle/high school near Göttingen, I returned to GIS at the beginning of 2013. I value the dynamics, love of innovation, and creative energy at our school just as much as keeping traditions alive and appreciating established practices. Being exposed to both an international atmosphere and to German education standards seems to me an ideal combination and preparation for the future of a younger generation, who puts their trust and great expectations in GIS. To inspire these young people and to accompany them on part of their life’s journey is a highly worthwhile goal to me and influences my work greatly.
