GISNY is accredited as "Excellent German School Abroad"
GISNY is a member of a growing network of more than 130 German schools abroad who are endorsed and supported by Germany's Central Agency for German Schools Abroad. The network spans over 72 countries and supports around 85,000 students, 60,000 of whom are children of non-German origin. Each of these schools offers an academically exceptional and culturally rich bilingual education to students of all nationalities and backgrounds.
Furthermore, we are accredited by the New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS), ensuring our commitment to the highest academic and operational standards.
Starting with the 2026/27 school year, GISNY has been accepted into the MINT-EC network, Germany's excellence school network for mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology.
MINT-EC brings together mainly schools across all 16 German federal states, but also a small number of German schools abroad—now including ours. MINT-EC has operated under the patronage of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (Kultusministerkonferenz) since 2009, and it is not a broad-based funding program but rather one of the most demanding recognitions in the German school system: nationwide and internationally, only around 350 schools belong to the network, admitted after careful review of course offerings, gifted-student support, partnerships with universities and companies, and commitment to encouraging girls in STEM subjects.
For our students, membership opens up new opportunities: participation in nationwide MINT-EC camps, academies, and competitions, exchange with other excellence schools, and access to the MINT-EC Certificate, a nationally recognized award that carries weight in university applications and scholarship applications.
We take pride in being recognized as a MINT School, a testament to our commitment to excellence in Mathematics, IT, Natural Sciences, and Technology—the German counterpart to the STEM fields. This recognition underscores our dedication to preparing students for success in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
GISNY was honored as a "Digitale Schule" in 2024. This prestigious recognition, under the patronage of the German Federal Minister of Digital Affairs, acknowledges our commitment to providing a modern and future-oriented education.
