Our School

Welcome to GISNY!

Established in 1980, we are offering our students exceptional academics and co-curricular activities and have engaged local and international communities in friendly cross-cultural exchanges for over 40 years. We invite you to explore our offerings and to familiarize yourself with our distinctive bilingual, multicultural approach to teaching and learning.

German International School New York is an accredited bilingual (German-English) and coeducational private day school for Pre-K through Grade 12 located in the heart of Westchester County, just 30 minutes north of New York City.  We blend rigorous German and American curricula in an open, supportive environment that promotes personal growth, independence, and teamwork.  Small class sizes allow our teachers to pay close personal attention to each of their students, thereby helping them to achieve their potential and encouraging them to develop into multilingual, analytical, and conscientious global citizens.

While nurturing our students, we also seek to connect with the broader community. Parents participate enthusiastically in the school’s activities and enable us to carry on long-standing traditions, such as the annual Holiday Bazaar. Through these cultural events, we reach out to our neighbors and thereby act as a bridge between our different cultures. We have also maintained close ties to diverse groups, such as the Holocaust and Human Rights Education Center in Westchester and the Martin De Porres School in Queens. These important relationships underscore our dedication to dynamic learning and inter-cultural understanding.

The original name German School New York or Deutsche Schule New York (DSNY) was officially changed in 2014 to German International School New York (GISNY) / Deutsche Internationale Schule New York.
