Internship@GISNY | All the Best, Alexandra & Welcome, Maximilian

Since the school year 2024/25, GISNY is partnering with the University of Potsdam to host Master of Education students for a six-month teaching internship. Through this cooperation, future educators gain valuable hands-on experience in an international school setting while contributing fresh perspectives and academic expertise to our classrooms.

This partnership reflects our shared commitment to high-quality teacher education, international exchange, and the ongoing professional growth that benefits both our students and the wider educational community.

All the best, Alexandra!

Today marked the last day of our current intern, Alexandra Keil, who has been working in the Lower School since the beginning of the school year. Below are a few words about her experience. We wish her all the best for the rest of her studies and hope to see her again as a full teacher.

Hi dear GISNY family,

After six months, my time as an intern at GISNY in New York is coming to an end, and I will be returning to Germany. These past few months have been very special for me. I am grateful for this experience and have learned a great deal. I gained many new experiences, learned a lot, and developed personally and professionally.

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the entire school community, including the head of school, Mr. Ovelgönne, the head of the lower school, Ms. Maiberger, and all the teachers, for their support, openness, and trust. I would also like to thank the administrative staff, the kitchen team that prepares delicious, fresh food daily, the caretakers, the security officers, and all the other staff who contribute to the school's daily operations.

I would also like to thank the children, who enriched my life with their curiosity, openness, and joy every day, as well as the parents, who were friendly and cooperative.

I am very grateful for this incredible opportunity to have been part of the GISNY community. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to Corinna Guerriere and her family for welcoming me with open arms and making me feel comfortable from day one. Their hospitality made my time here much easier and meant a lot to me.

Thank you for all your efforts, support, and the valuable experiences I gained. I will always have fond memories of this time.

Take care!

Alexandra Keil
