Spring Break Activities

The Parents' Association has initiated spring break activities which you can find in the Parent Portal. Please go to the Parent Portal and choose the right entertainment from all the amazing offerings for your child/children and there might be even something there for you.

If you would still like to offer an activity for students during spring break, please submit your proposal, by sending an email to  including target audience, dates and times, duration, links, a brief description (incl. a list of things the students might need), number of participants (if applicable), and language. Please don’t send any forms!

In terms of times and dates you can choose whatever suits you best. There is no problem to overlap activities as most classes have a restricted amount of participants. Generally, there are currently less activities in the second week.

There are classes with and without limited participants.

For limited participants classes, it is best to create a SignUpGenius link and a Zoom link. Both are free and easy to set up.

Classes with unrestricted participants only need a Zoom link.

Example for limited participants classes on the parent portal: Draw your own picture book with Ms. Christina Reuschle

Example for unlimited participants classes on the parent portal: GISNY sings with Evelyn

Thank you for helping us entertain our students and come together as a community!

Helpful Links & Apps for Families During the COVID-19 School Closing

  • App offers thousand of books, audio and more. Read free for 30 days, $8.99/month after free trial.

German International School New York's community isn't limited to our students and faculty: GISNY parents and alumni play an essential role in making GISNY the vibrant, engaged, and diverse school that it is.
While we come from many different countries and cultures and collectively speak more than 10 native languages at home, we enjoy coming together at breakfasts, art fairs, flea markets, sports days, field trips, class parties, career days, holiday celebrations and so much more.  But these events don't organize themselves; they happen thanks to the creativity and dedication of our parent volunteers.
We encourage everyone to find a way to get involved and stay connected with GISNY.  Whether it's accompanying your child's class on a field trip to a nature center, becoming a Parents' Association representative, or organizing the annual Holiday Bazaar, your help is welcomed and appreciated!
Would you like to help but aren't sure where to start?  Please email the president of our Parents' Association at for information on open volunteer opportunities.
