Coronavirus UPDATE As of yesterday, March 3rd, it has been reported that there has been a confirmed case of coronavirus in Westchester. This person has had no history of travel to places with a high incidence of transmission. What this likely means is that there may have been cryptic or hidden cases in our area which are only now coming to light.
As we must now assume that there will be local transmission in our area, we would like to reiterate the following guidance for our families: Please stay home from school or work if you or your child/children are unwell; do not send students to school with even mild illness.
What has the school done so far?
What can we expect moving forward? We all know that this is a rapidly evolving situation. Please be aware that mitigation measures may be put in place by the health authorities.
Mitigation measures include such measures as closing schools. This mitigation measure designed to slow the spread of infectious illness so that hospitals and clinics are not overwhelmed with a surge in cases. This is an accepted public health measure during times of infectious illnesses. The school management team has been preparing for this possibility behind the scenes should it become necessary. Please be assured that we will have everything in place for on-line education, should this be required.
Home Quarantine If your company has asked that you home quarantine for 14 days - or any period of time after international travel, we ask that you keep quarantine your children at home for the same period of time. Thank you for your cooperation.
We will continue to keep you informed at all times.
Lars Hierath, Head of School
