Holiday Bazaar 2019: Being a volunteer
The sign-up went online and we still need many helping hands to create a wonderful event. There is a lot to do in the days leading up to the bazaar, e.g. decorate the school, cut raclette cheese, prepare potato salad, as well as during the bazaar itself, working the food and drink booths. Please follow this link to volunteer: https://signup.com/go/DQJLqDd
Each class must donate 3 cakes to the Kaffeestube. The cakes should be one pie, one fruit cake and one pound cake. Please follow this link for the cake donations: https://signup.com/go/fwRzyCZ
Baking Christmas cookies The PA would like to keep the beloved Christmas cookies tradition alive and sell cookies at their stand. If you love baking and can find some time to do it during Thanksgiving, you can let us know until November 29th by using the sign-up. Cookies need to be dropped off on December 4th at 8.30 am in the Cafeteria.
Last chance! - November 27th until 2.30 pm: purchase one of the lovely adorned wreaths or arrangements in old library - November 29th: order Raclette Cheese per mail pascallehmann@posteo.de
Up-to-date information on the bazaar can be found in the Parent Portal on the GISNY website or you can contact us directly holidaybazaar@gisny.org.

Green School AG
We, the Green School AG, would like to draw attention to the fact that from the 2nd of December empty markers, sharpies and highlighters will be collected in a box placed at the front office. But what happens to the markers and highlighters? They will be sent to the Crayola Color Cycle project where they will be re-purposed and shipping is free! https://www.crayola.com/colorcycle.aspx
Important Seasonal Flu Information from the CDC and the WHO The Flu Vaccine is Recommended for Everyone over 6 Months: The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends annual flu vaccination for all individuals age 6 months and older. What exactly is influenza? Is it really that serious? Yes! Influenza, also called the flu, is a contagious viral infection of the nose and throat that is easily spread from person to person, through sneezes, cough, and even talking. It can lead to serious complications in children, including hospitalization and death. Influenza and its complications claim thousands of lives and hospitalize more than 200,000 in the United States every year. Each year, influenza causes approximately 20,000 hospitalizations, mostly in children less than 5 years of age, and an average of 100 pediatric deaths in children less than 18 years old, nearly half of whom were previously healthy. How can I tell if my child has influenza? Influenza typically comes on very suddenly. The symptoms usually include high fever, aches, chills, headache, cough, and extreme tiredness. Children, especially infants and toddlers, may have additional symptoms that adults usually don't experience, including ear aches, nausea, and vomiting. How effective is the influenza vaccine? Do vaccines always work? The effectiveness of the influenza vaccine can range widely from season to season and can also vary depending on the recipient. No vaccine is 100 percent effective, but vaccination is the single most important step you can take to protect yourself against influenza. When should I get my child vaccinated? The best time to receive influenza vaccination is before exposure to the virus. You and your child can get vaccinated as soon as vaccine is available in your community. Getting vaccinated now gives your body time to build protection against the strains of influenza predicted to be most common this influenza season. It typically takes two weeks to be protected after being vaccinated. Link to the World Health Organization's Seasonal Influenza Poster:
