Nationwide Read Aloud Day at GISNY November 19th is nationwide read aloud day in Germany – and GISNY is a part of it again! DIE ZEIT, the Stiftung Lesen (foundation for reading) and the Deutsche Bahn Stiftung (foundation of the German railway company) initiated the 18th read aloud day. This year's motto is "friendship and team spirit". The intention behind this day is to promote interest in children's literature and the joy of reading.
Therefore, the Lower School teachers will participate in this project. Keeping our international background in mind, we will read in German as well as in English. 'Oh, wie schön ist Panama' by Janosch, 'Enemy Pie' by Derek Munson, 'A Little Spot of Teamwork' by Diane Alber or 'Die Vorstadtkrokodile' by Max von der Grün are just a few examples of the books we will read. We are glad to experience this exciting, funny and relaxing time with all the Lower School students – this year in our cohorts!

ADVENT WREATH SALE Partridge Rd parking lot in front of the Gym
As one of our school's traditions, we start the Advent season by selling handmade and festively decorated Advent wreaths and holiday arrangements. You can pre-order your wreath by email (von.beck.anita@gmail.com) indicating your preferred candle color (red, white/creme as well as limited quantities of chocolate brown, light yellow and pastel pink) and style (e.g., traditional/natural, alpine, modern, playful). As usual, you can also come and visit our stand at the parking lot, where there will be plenty of options to choose from. The wreaths have a diameter of about 16" and cost $55. We will accept Venmo or cash/check in an envelope. Thank you for supporting our school! All proceeds from this project benefit the GISNY Parents' Association.
