GISNY eNEWSLETTER March 20, 2021 | A Special Message
Dear GISNY Community,
To state this clearly—we condemn these attacks and stand with the Asian community. Many of our families and friends are upset, we are angry and upset. This year has been devastating for a multitude of reasons and it is unacceptable that anyone should feel afraid to step outside of their homes because of who they are, how they look or where they are from. As an international school, we are all affected by this and we stand together in solidarity.
As a community, we celebrate the differences that make us all special. At our international school, we experience every day how valuable our differences are and how much we all benefit from each other. This has been the focus of many of this year's events at our school and will continue to be so. As our mission statement states, German International School New York strives to encourage open-mindedness, tolerance, and global awareness. We see ourselves as a community that recognizes individuals and their unique attributes, and we take responsibility for our fellow citizens.
As educators and parents, we should be helping our students and children to understand what such incidents mean. Please consider looking at the following resources if they can help in supporting conversations both in class and at home.

Wie unser Leitbild besagt, ist die German International School New York bestrebt, Offenheit, Toleranz und globales Bewusstsein zu fördern.
